This bilateral call is a collaboration between AgriFoodTure (Denmark) and Roadmap Food, Health & Living Environment (Netherlands). The call supports collaborative research and innovation projects between Danish and Dutch partners.
This joint call invites consortia with partners from both countries to work together on advancing plant-rich diets to achieve sustainability, public health, and climate goals. By leveraging complementary expertise and strengths in Denmark and the Netherlands, this call aims accelerate transformative solutions in the agri-food system.
All project proposals must include both Danish and Dutch partners and will be evaluated jointly. However, funding procedures and requirements differ depending on the country of the partner. Please consult the ‘Bilateral call text’ (attached) for detailed information on eligibility, funding conditions, and application procedures in each country. It is essential to read this document carefully!
Projects within this call must contribute to one or both of the following themes:
- Theme 1 – Development of Nutritious, Sustainable Plant-Rich Products
Focus on the nutritional quality, health benefits, and consumer acceptance of plant-rich diets. Projects should explore innovations in product development to enhance the taste, texture, and nutritional profile of plant-rich foods. This includes research on optimizing formulations, using alternative proteins, and incorporating health-promoting bioactive compounds to create products that meet consumer demands while contributing to sustainability goals and public health concerns.
- Theme 2 – Public Awareness of Healthy Sustainable Diets via Effective Consumer Engagement and Education
Examine the role and effectiveness of consumer behavior interventions, food environment improvements and market strategies in promoting sustainable dietary transitions. Projects may explore for instance effective communication campaigns, behavioral nudges, pricing strategies, and placement techniques to increase the attractiveness and adoption of plant-rich and hybrid food products. This theme also emphasizes education and awareness initiatives that highlight the environmental and health benefits of sustainable diets, aiming to shift cultural perceptions and empower consumers to make informed choices.
Important notes:
- All projects must be joint applications involving partners from both countries.
- There are specific requirements for Dutch and Danish partners (incl. enterprises, trade associations, sector organizations, NGO’s, research institutions, and (regional) public institutions):
- Dutch partners: for Dutch partners, this bilateral call is part of the regular KIA Landbouw Water Voedsel – PPP call 2025. This means that for Dutch partners the regular guidelines for application within this KIA Landbouw Water Voedsel – PPS call 2025 apply, as well as the same funding conditions. Furthermore, Dutch partners have to complete the regular project proposal form (English format) that can be found on the KIA-LWV website and complete the regular excel-form on project budget details.
- Danish partners: for Danish partners, also the project proposal form (English format) of the KIA Landbouw Water Voedsel – PPS call 2025 must be completed. However, also additional Appendices must be filled in, including the Danish project budget details. The appendices and descriptions of the required content can be found on the AgriFoodTure website under “Calls” (www.agrifoodture.com/calls).
- It is mandatory to contact Jose Vogelezang (josevogelezang@topsectortu.nl) to express your interest in this call before 16 May 2025. She will provide you with all the details and required documents.
- An online matchmaking event will be organized by AgriFoodTure and Roadmap Food, Health & Living Environment on 8 May 2025, 11.00h – 12.30h. The aim of this event is to connect Danish and Dutch partners. The meeting consist of a plenary introduction to the bilateral call and interactive breakout sessions. NOTE: this bilateral call will not be part of the consultation interviews that are scheduled for the regular PPS call 2025.
