1 november: Innovation Meetup Future of crop protection
The European Commission aims to reduce the use of chemical crop protection products by 50% by 2030. Similar requirements are coming from retail and society. How will the horticultural industry deal with this challenge? A lot of research is being done into alternatives to chemistry. But how do these alternatives find their way into practice, and what obstacles stand in the way? Do the alternatives fit into existing business systems, or are system innovations required? These questions are central to the Innovation Meetup “The Future of Crop Protection”, which will take place on Tuesday, November 1st, at the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk.
Our keynote speaker, Prof. Toby Bruce (Keele University), will present his vision on “Innovation in Crop Protection: Challenges and Opportunities”. Karel Bolckmans (Biobest Group) and Christy van Beek (Bayer CropScience) will present visions from an industry perspective, followed by a panel discussion in which also Peter Knippels (LTO Nederland) participates. Susanne Sütterlin (Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) and Richard Harrison (Plant Sciences Group at Wageningen University & Research) will provide a response from the perspective of policy making and research, respectively.
Apart from these speakers, we will host a marketplace where startups are present to pitch their future-proof crop protection solutions. The program contains plenty of time to interact with the speakers, the startups, and your fellow participants.
