The Dutch business community, research institutes and government join forces in the Top Sector for Horticulture & Starting Materials to promote innovation in this sector. More than 300 research and innovation projects have been funded through the top sector since 2012. Some 400 companies participate in this. What is typical to these projects is that 50% of the costs are, on average, borne by the government, and 50% by the participating companies and other private organisations.

Although the results of all these projects do reach the R&D departments of the participating companies, some of these remain on the shelf and are not further developed into concrete products, processes or services. The Top Sector for Horticulture & Starting Materials aims to make this accumulated knowledge available for commercial applications. Only then will the sector be able to benefit from genuine innovation!

Through the IMPACT 2025 programme, the Top Sector for Horticulture & Starting Materials aims to collect ideas and involve new parties in order to translate both new and existing research into concrete applications for practical use. To this end, the top sector is organising a series of activities under the name IMPACT 2025.
